Three Years Baby!

I got married at the Methodist Church in Los Osos three years ago today. My wonderful husband was beyond my dreams of the greatness God was going to give me. I still remember kissing everyone, it was the greatest day fo my life. I was now somebody's wife and I didn't feel lonely anymore. I remember even hugging the bagpipe dude who performed at my wedding. When the formal pictures were over and off to the reception, which was at Los Osos Community center, when i walked in, it was so beautiful. My sister had decorated it with along other family members and it was breathtaking , I loved it all so much. I had all of my best friends there, people who were very important to me even when we don't talk, Monique VanBeurden, Lindsey Jackson, Christina Ness, Zanazara Landrum, Shannon Juarez and my maid of Honor Clare McFarlin. All of these women mean so much to be and I hope God blesses them tons, because jsut having them there was what added to my wonderful day, besides the beer and cake =) We went to The Inn at Morro Bay, the first night, then off to Reno where my husband booked a private lodge for one week. Now that would have been great except the freaking sign that said beware of the bears, geez! I was afraid to go outside, and of course the hot tub was outside. But it was very special. Ken even won 1600 dollars on the 5 dollar machine at Ceasears. And it was also trying at times, getting to know the person on a more intimate level, and one thing I didn't do in our first week was pray and ask God for guidance and help. I relied on myself and I should never do that. When we got to Disneyworld the next week, I asked God and miraculously all the things fell into place and I knew what my place was. Plus I hate bears!!! And Orlando rocked, it was soo cool, everyone was really nice, and the weather was wonderful, I was married! Whooo! God was blessing me every way I looked, and I even went to Hooters in Orlando, hahah. We have moved this year into a two bedroom home with a fireplace, two blocks from the beach, even a washer! I hadn't had my own washer since I lived at my mom's house. And the best blessing was a another sister for my daughter Chanel, Julianna Eva Josephine Vigil. She is a monster and an angel. Both of my daughters bring the great joy to my life and along side my wonderful husband who even makes me coffee in the morning, I feel so blessed. Thank you Ken for the best three years of my life. you are the best husband and I love you so much! Praise the lord!

Making the Switch

I have always loved photography, and graphic design. I loved fashion! And more than the fashion I wanted my photos in the fashion magazines like W. I took every class that Cuesta College offered in photography. I was aborbed in the printing aspect of photography, the smell of aphixiator made me in love. The anticipation of watching your hard work come alive in 4 second in the developer- Wow, I wanted to do this 24-7. During my last year at Cuest,I got pregnant and pretty much though my career life was over. Marta Pelusa, A professor at Cuesta, had a long talk with me and told me, "No your life isn't over, you can do it." I used to get up at 4 in the morning to do homework and I was a single mom at the time, so it was really hard. I waitress 5 days a week and went to Cal Poly full time (16 + units). Finally, I got my degree from Cal Poly in Art and Design in Photography & Digital Imagery Concentration from Cal Poly in 2000.

When I decided that I was going to shoot weddings, I had to sell my 4x5 Cambo to pay for all the 35mm equipment and lighting I needed. I actually cried when I shipped it off to the buyer-selling that camera was hardest thing I have ever had to do, and I will never forget that day. Later that year I bought a series of inexpensive cameras trying to replace the feeling that the Cambo gave me yet the versatility to shoot weddings, 4x5 is not very realistic. I bought a Bronica, Yashica Electro GSN, Agfa Isolette Camera, Polaroid SX-70 Camera, Zeiss Ikon Contaflex, Holga with Flash and a Zorki I. I know that I want a digital medium format but with Hassleblad selling at like 23 grand, don’t think so, but I have heard though the grapevine that the Pentax 645 would be around 8 grand, and even though that is a high price, we all must follow our dreams.
